Do you like to sing?
The Ithachords welcomes men who enjoy singing to come and sing with us. There is no audition to pass, and no previous performance experience is needed. All that is needed is a love of singing. Music reading skills are always helpful, but not essential. If you have a good ear and can sing a musical phrase after hearing it a few times, you'll do just fine! The four voice parts range from very low to very high and special attention will be given to matching you with a voice part that is comfortable. Please drop by or give us a call. We'd love to meet you and introduce you to our great chorus! We will be glad to answer any questions you may have and to help you in any way we can.



Reading music
While the ability to read music is a tremendous asset to the singer and a powerful learning tool, it is not a essential to singing barbershop. Many of our members have only limited experience with reading music and rely on highly developed listening skills and musical memory. Though music reading is not specifically taught during rehearsal, many of the elements of music reading are discussed in the natural course of learning songs, so that people are improving their music reading ability by simply being there!
